Despite the calls of the international society and OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Baku continues violating the ceasefire agreement of 1994 which has no time limitations and the verbal agreement on stopping the military actions in the zone of Karabakh conflict from April 5 2016, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated at a press conference in Helsinki on May 2.
By doing this Baku is preparing ground for new military actions in the zone of Karabakh conflict and escalation of the situation on the border with Armenia. "Azerbaijan accuses the Armenian side in exactly what it is itself doing, thus preparing ground for new military attacks, which can have far-reaching consequences for the whole region. We are sharing the view with the international community that there is no alternative to the exclusively peaceful negotiated settlement of this issue. To restore the negotiation environment immense efforts will be needed. First of all it is imperative to implement the proposal of the three Co-Chair countries, supported by the international community to create a mechanism of investigation of the ceasefire regime violations, and to secure and guarantee the unconditional implementation of ceasefire agreements of 1994 and 1995. All those proposals are fully supported by Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh," Armenian foreign minister noted, the press-service of the Armenian foreign ministry reports.
In his turn Finland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Timo Soini expressed regret related toe escalation of the situation in the zone of Karabakh conflict. He emphasized that there is no alternative to peaceful settlement of the conflict. The foreign minister expressed solidarity to the OSCE MG mission. He also urged the sides to adhere to the provisions of the ceasefire agreement.
