The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is concerned over the regular ceasefire violations in the Karabakh conflict zone.
APA reports that Secretary General Ban Ki-moon today addressed the plenary meeting of the PACE summer session. When asked by member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Sevinj Fataliyeva what steps the UN can take to make Armenia "fulfill the resolutions of the UN Security Council", Ban Ki-moon replied that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be resolved only by peaceful means.
"The military solution to the conflict will be devastating not only for the sides of the conflict, but also for the entire region, it will bring serious consequences", APA quotes Ban Ki-moon as saying.
"I am very concerned about the regular violation of ceasefire between the two countries. We see what is happening between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and both sides suffer causalities every day. The tension is gradually escalating between the two countries. I urge both countries to resolve the conflict peacefully. The OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the resolution of the conflict. The basic idea here is a dialogue between the sides and continuation of efforts to achieve a sustainable solution," he noted.
