Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The trial court of Yerevan's Center and Nork Marash communities has granted the National Security Service's petition to arrest the former presidential candidate Vartan Sedrakyan for two months.
Some local media report that after searching Sedrakyan's office a few days ago the Service charged him with being the organizer of the Jan 31 assassination attempt on another former presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan.
Hayrikyan was shot in the shoulder on Jan 31 evening. On Feb 8 the National Security Service detained two men Albert Poghosyan and Samvel Harutyunyan, who admitted that it was they who attacked Hayrikyan. Later Sedrakyan said that those people did repairs in his house.
