Swiss Ambassador to Armenia Lukas Gasser: Switzerland will try to contribute to a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict without questioning the established formats such as the OSCE Minsk process

European Business Congress Working Committee Ecology and Healthcare has convened in Armenia. The meeting was entitled "Upgrading Efficiency of Environmental Management Systems on Gas Facilities," ArmRusgasprom press-service told ArmInfo.
Deputy Director General, Chief Engineer of ArmRusgasprom CJSC Hrant Tadevosyan came out with a report at the meeting. He said that ArmRusgasprom CJSC is one of the biggest investors in economy of Armenia and implements big investment projects, including large-scale gas supply network, Iran-Armenia gas pipeline, and the 5th power unit of Hrazdan TPP.
He said that 95% of the country - 591 populated areas - has gas supply. The share of the gas filling stations in total gas consumption in the country is the biggest. "Itisveryimportantfortheenvironment. Experts say that natural gas the most environment-friendly motor fuel. I'd like to say that large-scale gas supply to the population and facilities of Armenia has reduced also illegal felling in the country," he said.
He touched upon Hrazdan-5 project and said that environmental requirements are strictly observed in the construction of the 5th power unit of Hrazdan TPP.
Tadevosyan said that ArmRusgasprom is exploiting also some facilities that may add greenhouse gases (including methane) to the atmosphere. That is why the company is modernizing its facilities to reduce environment pollution. At present, the company is implementing two projects of Clean Development Mechanism.
"Therefore, introducing energy-efficient technologies and implementing power saving measures, the company reduces possible impact on environment. The company takes environment protection measures on a regular basis," he said.
A representative of Gazprom Company, Russia, Oleg Savchenko, in turn, said that one of the company's commitments is provision of wide access to the information on environment protection measures of the company.
It is already the second meeting of the EBC Working Committee in Armenia in 2013. The key note speakers at the meeting represented Gazprom OJSC, ArmRusgasprom CJSC, Saturn Data International, EBC Secretariat, and many other companies in the field.
