For the first time in Armenia the activation of the domestic political situation is not connected with electoral processes, political expert Yervand Bozoyan said at a press conference in Yerevan on Friday.
He said that the opposition forces have started to speak the language people understand and to raise topical issues. "Now the opposition forces do not demand the authorities' resignation but they have worked out a competent political agenda of 12 items, which include the priority problems", the expert said. He thinks that the Armenian authorities have refused to hold a dialogue with the opposition by refusing to fulfill the 12 demands of the opposition.
Bozoyan thinks that Armenia has to make a choice: it should either choose Ukraine's path or to make a compromise with the opposition. "The best solution to the current situation will be snap parliamentary elections within the next few months", he said. He is also convinced that today the opposition has a strong leader in the person of Gagik Tsarukyan, Head of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), who has already stated that he has no enemies in the republic. This means that there will be no "witch hunt", Bozoyan added.
To recall, the non-power parties laid down 12 demands concerning the socio-economic development of Armenia and urged the Government to respond to these demands before September 30. The Government of Armenia grounded its refusal to fulfill the demands on 12 pages. Afterwards President Serzh Sargsyan said that the Government should discuss the opposition's 12 demands.
