The criminal that made the assassination attempt against Paruyr Hayrikyan and the political forces behind that attempt will be exposed by all means possible, Armenian Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan told media after visiting the wounded Paruyr Hayrikyan in hospital.

The assassination attempt against Paruyr Hayrikyan, candidate for president of Armenia, Leader of the Union for National Self-Determination Party, was made in the Tpagrichnery Street in Yerevan overnight. Ara Minasyan, chief physician of the Surb Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, Hayrikyan was taken to, assessed the candidate's health state as moderately grave.  Hayrikyan's life is no longer in danger.

"That step was aimed against the authorities, against our candidate Serzh Sargsyan. Condemning that incident, I am sure that the law-enforcement will do its best to expose that crime that was aimed also against the people. Considering the high level of the residential campaign in the country, it was an intentional step to destabilize the situation in the country, which was failed. I think. I don't rule out that the presidential election maybe postponed, but
I can say nothing specific yet. Everything will depend on Hayrikyan's health state," Abrahamyan said.
