Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The Union of Greek NGOs of Armenia advocates supporting the incumbent President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan's candidacy during the forthcoming presidential election, Chairman of the Union Arkady Khitarov told ArmInfo.
He stressed that the Greek community has no single position on the election. "However, given that our compatriot Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament Edward Sharmazanov is a member of the Republican Party of Armenia, most of the members of the Union of Greek NGOs traditionally support the RPA and its leader Serzh Sargsyan", he said.
When commenting on the statement of Edward Polatov, Chairman of Patrida NGO (which is a member of the Union), who said that the Greek community of Armenia is discontent with the incumbent authorities of Armenia and is not going to support Serzh Sargsyan, Khitarov pointed out that it is the personal position of Polatov.
