Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian has widened his lead at Wijk aan Zee after scoring two wins and ending one game in a draw in the last three rounds of the prestigious annual tournament played in the Netherlands.
In Round 5 of the tournament the Armenian beat German grandmaster Arkadij Naiditsch, and in the next round he won the game against Filipino grandmaster Wesley So. In Round 7 of the tournament Aronian drew with Israel's Boris Gelfand.
After such results Aronian currently has 5.5 points and is a point ahead of his closest two rivals in the 12- man tournament.
