The European Union cannot put
on a mask that nothing has happened. At the same time, we do not want
to chuck away the achievements reached over partnership
with Armenia, Petr Mares, Special Envoy for the Eastern Partnership
of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, said at the
conference "Four years of Eastern Partnership: results and
challenges" , held in Yerevan, 16 October.
"Yerevan's
decision to join the Customs Union is in the center of
Armenia-EU relations, which are negotiating on the future
format of cooperation. Armenia made an important step, but at present
the ball is in our half and we do not know how to act", - the Czech
diplomat said.
He also
added that the EU does not want to lose Armenia as a partner,
but Yerevan has to understand that it will be quite another
format of partnership. He emphasized that the EU is not satisfied
with partnership that has zero result.
For his
part, the Charge d'affaires to the Embassy of Czech Republic in Armenia,
Mr. Petr Mikyska said it is impossible to deny positive results
reached over the negotiating process with Armenia. Moreover, he welcomes
Armenia's aspiration to reach European values.
