Yezidi national union Midia-Shangal to support Serzh Sargsyan's candidacy at presidential elections

At the forthcoming presidential elections in Armenia the Yezidi national union Midia-Shangal will support the candidacy of the incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, Hamo Sharoyan, the head of the union, says in his statement sent to ArmInfo.     

"I am sure that if Sargsyan gains victory, he will stop the migration, reduce unemployment and poverty in the country and will contribute to the fulfillment of the international and national right of the national minorities", Sharoyan said. Sharoyan also calls on all compatriots to take an active part in the elections.

To note, earlier Aziz Tamoyan, Head of the National Union of Yezidis, said that the Yezidi community would support the candidacy of the incumbent President of Serzh Sargsyan. "The Yezidi community will support the authorities of Armenia the way it did during the presidency of the first and the second presidents of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Robert Kocharyan. This is the obligation of all national minorities, which meets our national interests", he said.

The following candidates will run for presidency: incumbent President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian, leader of Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan, leader of National Accord Party Aram Harutyunyan, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Arman Melikyan, political expert Andreas Ghukasyan and folklore specialist Vardan Sedrakyan.

The presidential election will take place on Feb 18 2013. The election campaign will start on Jan 21 and will be over at Feb 16 midnight.
