Five people are charged under the criminal case of MC Kajaran patients' infection with Hepatitis C.
As the Investigation Committee informs, in January of the current year information spread that several citizens got Hepatitis C after receiving treatment in Kajaran medical center. In the terms of the criminal case about 50 examinations have been held. 200 citizens, who were under medical treatment in the MC Kajaran in 2014, have undergone examination.
During the investigation it was proved that throughout last year during the operations held in the center, the respiratory tubes of single-use were used many times. Other violations of sanitary-epidemiological standards have been also revealed.
In a result of these violations 14 citizens, who had been operated in 2014, got infected with Hepatitis C. During the investigation, a group of people responsible for the violation of the sanitary-epidemiological standards has been disclosed. On the basis of the evidences, Vardan Avagyan, former Director of CJSC Kajaran medical center, Deputy Director Virab Minasyan, principal chief nurse Armed Vanesyan, head nurse Nora Karapetyan and anesthesia care provider Yervand Avagyan are charged under Article 277 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Breach of sanitation and epidemic regulations, which negligently caused heavy damage to health or human death). The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
