Some forces in Bagharamyan Ave are not protesting against electricity price hikes, they are seeking destabilization of the situation and sabotage.
The prime minister said the calls of those forces to stay in the street are not clear, as the president explained the necessity of raising the electricity price and announced that an audit will be conducted at the Electric Networks of Armenia. Furthermore, the president said that the government will take the financial burden of the increased electricity price until the audit results.
"These calls are not clear also because the activists of the "No to Plunder" movement moved to the Liberty Square and called the protests to follow them. This was a reasonable step," the prime minister said in a statement and called for everyone to refrain from escalating the situation, sabotage of the police and unconstitutional actions.
The members of the "No To Plunder" movement expressed concern that the situation might get out of control and called the protesters to join them in the Liberty Square. Several hundreds followed them, while the overwhelming majority remained on the Baghramyan Avenue.
