Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian is ready to meet with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and discuss with him suggestions allowing the country to overcome the domestic political crisis.
During the March 12 press conference in Liberty Square, Hovannisian said that his willingness does not mean he is stopping his hunger strike. This will be possible if the suggestions coincide with the interests of Hovannisian and Armenia. The Heritage leader stressed that not only Serzh Sargsyan's resignation, but also other options may remove the domestic political crisis.
Hovannisian pointed out that he agrees with Republic Party leader Aram Sargsyan's suggestions that all the opposition MPs should refuse their mandates, Hovannisian should continue the hunger strike and gather a lot of people in Liberty Square during the March 15 rally.
The Heritage leader said that this does not contradict his principles, but he does not want to force people to attend his rally in Liberty Square. He said that now people are gathering around ideas and if the people want to gain their final victory, they should gather in Liberty Square not only on upcoming Friday, but also on the following days. Hovannisian added that he does not expect the first President of Armenia Levon Ter- Petrosyan to come, but at the same time he is ready to greet those who want to visit him.
To note, according to the final data of the Central Electoral Commission the incumbent President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan obtained 58.64 % (861373) of votes during the Feb 18 presidential election. His main opponent, Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovannisian obtained 36.75 % (539 693) of votes. Since Feb 19 Hovannisian's supporters have been holding protest rallies in Liberty Square of Yerevan and other towns of the country. On March 10 Hovannisian declared a hunger strike.
