Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR) is organizing a protest rally in Moscow on September 14 against actions of Hungary and Azerbaijan, the UAR told ArmInfo. The Russian State Duma members, representatives of political parties and public organizations of Russia will speak at the rally.
To recall, on August 31 the Armenian authorities adopted a decision to suspend diplomatic relations with Hungary after the Hungarian authorities extradited Azeri officer Ramil Safarov, who was sentenced by a Hungarian court to life in jail for killing sleeping Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan with an axe in Budapest in 2004. The same day after Safarov's extradition, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev decreed to pardon the criminal.
The UAR announces that voting to the RF President's Council for Human Rights will be held on September 15 and urges compatriots to vote for Director of the Center of International Cooperation Ashot Hayrapetyan, who has been engaged in prevention of inter-ethnic conflicts and radical xenophobia for over ten years. Hayrapetyan and his colleagues from the Center have been repeatedly raising the issue of the Armenian Genocide at the UN, Council of Europe and OSCE, the statement reads.
