On July 7, the RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov received the leaders of the Congress of Refugees from Azerbaijan SSR Mariam Avagyan, Alexander Grigoryan, Yuri Baghdasaryan and Martin Israyelyan, the press-service of the Armenian parliament informs.
Eduard Sharmazanov highlighted the guests' visit to the parliament and noted that in this region the refugees' problems emerged as a consequence of Azerbaijan's genocidal and anti-Armenian policy. Assessing the bloody cases occurred in the region as a crime against the whole mankind, the NA Deputy Speaker stressed that even after several decades Azerbaijan's handwriting has not changed. "The slaughter of peaceful residents in Talish was of the same handwriting as Armenians' massacres in Sumgait and Baku," Eduard Sharmazanov noted.
Thanking the NA Deputy Speaker for the meeting, the guests presented him the goals of the visit. The coordinator of the organisation Mariam Avagyan touched upon the problems of about 660.000 Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan SSR. In this context Mrs Avagyan highlighted the importance of raising the Armenian refugees' problems at international different platforms, and talked about the return of the internally displaced.
At the end of the meeting the NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov expressed readiness for the further cooperation with the leaders of the Congress of refugees from the Azerbaijan SSR.
To note, numerous cases of violation of civilians' rights were registered in the course of Azerbaijani aggression on April 1-4. In addition, the Azerbaijani servicemen monstrously killed and cut the ears of three Armenian civilians Valera Khalapyan, Razmella Khalapyan and Marusya Khalapyan. The Azeri servicemen also decapitated 19-year-old Armenian serviceman Kyaram Sloyan and posted his photos on the internet. On the first day of the aggression, the Azerbaijani servicemen killed 12-year-old Vaghinak Grigoryan and wounded two more children. The Armenian side has already announced its intention to apply to international courts over these facts. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has recently said that some claims have already been filed, and some are still being prepared. He says the international structures are informed of these crimes committed by Azerbaijan.
The Armenian massacres in Sumgait took place Feb 26-29 1988 and claimed 53 lives. On Jan 13-19 1990 in Baku mass massacres of Armenian population were organized on state level. Local 400 thousand population was forcefully displaced.
