President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev who is in Armenia to attend the regular session of the Inter- governmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union today. 

Welcoming the guest, President Sargsyan said: "During your previous official visit, we discussed the pressing and sensitive issues on our agenda. I think today we will continue our talk, because there was a really hard period for our region then, as Azerbaijan grossly violated the agreements of 1994-1995. I returned from Vienna a few days ago, where at the initiative of the foreign ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group countries we discussed the current situation and the way out of it. We agreed on a permanent monitoring and introduction of the mechanisms to inquire into the ceasefire violations. We will do our best to prevent these violations. We hope the foreign ministers of the OSCE MG countries will be consistent in the implementation of the decisions we made together."

Dmitry Medvedev, in turn, said his second visit to Armenia within a month shows the high level of the relations between Armenia and Russia, the allied nature of the ties between the two peoples and the countries. "Last time we really held bilateral talks, and today the enlarged session of the Intergovernmental Council of our union. Thank you for the invitation to hold the meeting in Yerevan. It is the first event of such scale in Yerevan. It is symbolical that the head of Eurasian Economic Commission also represents Armenia. Let us have a talk - our colleagues from the government will inform you of the results. I am sure that we will achieve the necessary arrangements, I reiterate, to stimulate our economies. My previous visit was really in a very hard period. I'd like to say that in Russia we were following the developments very intensely and helping to resolve the situation as much as we could.  It is important to observe the ceasefire that was achieved. In this context, we welcome your meeting with the President of Azerbaijan in Vienna and the efforts of the Minsk Group to maintain the dialogue and prevent such kind of incidents in the future. I am speaking about the historical agreements of 1994-1995 and movement towards more durable peace in the region and achievement of the final settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Don't doubt, Russia has always helped and will keep helping to resolve that protracted conflict. We will discuss everything related to it now," Medvedev said.
