Diplomats and officials in Brussels are shocked by the unexpected U-turn of Armenia, which announced its intention to join the Customs Union, Stepan Safaryan, Secretary of the opposition Heritage Party, says on his Facebook page. To note, Safaryan is currently in the Belgium capital.
"They are expecting explanations from both the European Commission and the European Parliament. I wonder what fairy-tale the authorities will tell this time", says Safaryan.
On September 3, Armenian President confirmed Armenia's intention to join the Customs Union and the process of the formation of the Eurasian Union.
