Political expert: Reports that the Azeri Parliament might adopt a law "On Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan" were just an attempt to see the reaction of the Azeri society, Armenia and the world community
Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The Huntsmans will start talking on ex-foreign minister, a deputy from Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Vartan Oskanian's case being accused for money
laundering, and it will blow up the political field of Armenia, Oskanian's lawyer, a deputy from the PAP, Tigran Atanesyan, said at today's press-conference.
<The kind name of the Huntsmans was blackened in Armenia and linked with money laundering. The Huntsmans will start speaking. This will have very unpleasant consequences", - he said and added that in several days they are going to make an application to stop the criminal case regarding Oskanian. He said that the criminal case regarding Oskanian is just of the political nature. "Oskanian has nothing to hide. He answered all the questions", - Atanesyan said.
To recall, Vardan Oskanyan was stripped immunity on October 2. Prosecutor General Hovsepyan appealed to the Parliament for a permission to involve Vartan Oskanian as an accused party in the money laundering case against Civilitas Foundation. The appeal implies deprivation of deputy immunity, but
not arrest. Oskanian has already made a statement saying that Aghvan Hovsepyan's appeal was a political order. On June 12 the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia submitted details of the criminal case against Civilitas Foundation initiated on May 25 (article 190.3 of the Criminal Code of the RA money laundering). The criminal case against the Civilitas Foundation concerns the $2mln transaction for the sale of Huntsman Building Products, an
Armenia-based company owned by US-based Polymer Materials and Huntsman International.
To note, other high ranked official, members of the PAP also act in different criminal cases. So, ex-urban development minister, a member of the PAP, Vardan Vardanyan, was invited to the Police station to give testimony about financial fraud in the ministry headed by him. The audit was also held in the
healthcare system, which was headed by a PAP member Harutyun Kushkyan. The large-scale abuses were also revealed in the social security system, which was headed by ministers from the PAP.
When replying to Arminfo correspondent's question, press-secretary of PAP, Tigran Urikhanyan, said the ministers from Prosperous Armenia Party also have what to say in the context of the incidents which the community is interested in, and they are ready to shed light upon many processes.
