The ruling Republican Party of Armenia has suggested amending the procedure for forming the Counting Board of the Armenian Parliament.
Republican MP Sukias Avetisyan said that they suggest increasing the membership of the board from 11 to 13 MPs. The RPA will have 7 instead of 5 members, Prosperous Armenia 2 members, the other parliamentary forces 1 member each.
The opposition is protesting. "Then let them adopt an amendment allowing them to make any changes depending on the situation," ARFD MPs Armen Rustamyan and Aghvan Vardanyan said with irony.
MP from Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan said that his party will not take part in such a "comedy." Prosperous Armenia is also going to abstain.
Vice Speaker of the Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov explained that the Republicans are making this change because of the opposition's whims. "It was their boycott that forced us to convoke an extraordinary session to try to solve this problem," Sharmazanov said.
Most of the Republican MPs have supported this initiative.
