The constitutional reforms proposed by Serzh Sargsyan are one more attempt on his part to stay in power after 2018, the head of the parliamentary group of Armenian National Congress Levon Zurabyan said during on debate on the constitutional reforms on Tuesday.
"The ruling regime is just trying to impose a constitution that will allow Sargsyan to retain power as 'secretary general of the Republican Party.' This makes Armenia very much like the 'banana republics' of Central and South America, where each new ruler rewrites the constitution. Today we see no objective reasons for changing our Constitution, so, we will do our best to prevent the regime from doing it," Zurabyan said.
