At the initiative of the EU representation in Armenia, candidate of Armenia, Leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian met with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia and the Armenian representatives of the international organizations on Feb 4.
The election headquarters of the candidate told ArmInfo that Raffi Hovannisian presented his approaches to the peculiarities of the election campaign and the propaganda. The sides stressed the importance of conducting the presidential election in line with international standards. At the request of diplomats, Raffi Hovannisian introduced his stance on the foreign policy of Armenia.
In the second half of the day, the candidate left for the town of Ashtarak and the nearby villages.
"We have started the second stage of the election propaganda and after the meetings with voters in Yerevan and in the regions I can see that the public sentiments are changing. Our people are awakening from slumber and getting more and more ready to assume the responsibility to change the situation in the country through elections for the first time over the last 20 years," Raffi Hovannisian told voters.
Thus, the presidential candidates are as follows: incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan from the Republican Party and former prime minister Hrant Bagratyan from the Liberty Party. All the remaining are self- nominated candidates: Leader of the Union for National Self-Determination Party Paruyr Hayrikyan, Leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian, Advisor for Political Issues of the Refugees and the International Law Civil Society Network, ex-foreign minister of NKR Arman Melikyan, Leader of National Accord Party Aram Haroutiunyan, political expert Andrias Ghukasyan, and specialist in
epic Vardan Sedrakyan. The elections will be held on Feb 18 2013.
