Rosneft Company, Russia, that is expected to enter the Armenian market of oil products, does not need to open car-filling stations in Armenia. Rosneft is more likely to create a joint venture with a local oil trader company, the head of a big company importing oil products to Armenia told ArmInfo speaking on condition of anonymity.
The source reported that Rosneft needs the Armenian partner for mutual exploitation of the existing petrol stations. The Russian company may modernize and expand the network of petrol stations in Armenia offering its brand and new mechanisms of fuel delivery to Armenia via Georgia. To recall, Russia has strained relationships with Georgia.
By data of Russian mass media, the Armenian authorities made such an offer to Rosneft. The company may become the main supplier of oil products to Armenia. The company will increase the number of petrol stations in Armenia by about 40-50. It'll create a petrol station also at the Yerevan Airport. The first negotiations concerning the cooperation will take place in late August.
Armenian oil market is estimated at 340-360 thousand tons per year, which is fully imported from Romania and Russia.
