Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Head of the Armenian Public Chamber Vazgen Manukyan says sale of the Foreign Ministry building was a political mistake. The building will turn into a five-star hotel.
Commenting on the given decision at the request of Mass Media, Manukyan said that the issue must be studied from the political point of view. It is important for the Foreign Ministry to be located in a territory having the highest status in Yerevan - the Republican Square, he said.
"The Foreign Ministry is of more importance for us than for any other country. Anyway, it is a serious political mistake for a country having a big Diaspora and an unsettled conflict to sale the building for commercial purposes," he said.
Earlier on October 4 the Government of Armenia adopted a decision to sell the above building to Tango CJSC for $41.2 million. The company belongs to Argentinean businessman Eduardo Eurnekian and registered in the territory of Zvartnots International Airport.
