Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Raffi Hovannisian, Hrant Baghratyan and Paruyr Hayrikyan ensure legitimacy of the incumbent president's election for the second term, Arman Melikyan, a candidate for president, told media, Tuesday. He believes that his aforementioned "colleagues" have just created a false impression of political competition in the presidential election and received "appraisal" of President Serzh Sargsyan.
Earlier in an interview with RFE/RL Armenia Service, the president said: "I don't agree with those who say that there are no strong competitors or people who could poll a significant number of votes. And who has said that Raffi Hovannisian, Hrant Bagratian, or Paruyr Hayrikian, who have merits and a track record, are easier competitors or have less experience of debate or public speaking?"
In the meanwhile, Melikyan said, the authorities can get as many votes as they needs if there are no conditions for fair competition and legitimate elections.
