Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The Old Yerevan project is a straw for a drowning man, Karine Danielyan, Head of the Association "For Sustainable Human Development", told ArmInfo.
"Yes, I agree with the criticism against this project, but a drowning man catches at a straw. The high- handed business completely destroys Yerevan, and this project could have saved at least a small part of the capital", she said. "Certainly, I would like the center of Yerevan to remain untouched, which would help create a relevant atmosphere around these old buildings. We have discussed this issue a lot, however, these buildings were dismantled", she said.
The Old Yerevan project envisages moving the buildings dating back to late XIX - early XX centuries to one of the main sections of the Main Avenue. All of these buildings were dismantled from the central streets of Yerevan. The plans on dismantlement of the old house of the Afrikyans in Teryan Street have recently caused public protest.
