Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The Cultural Capitals of the CIS project was approved in December 2012 during the session of the Council of Heads of the CIS Member States in Ashkhabad.
The project has proclaimed Gyumri (Armenia), Gabala (Azerbaijan) and Mogilyov (Belarus) as the cultural capitals of the Commonwealth.
The press service of the Armenian Culture Ministry told ArmInfo that to specify the provisions of this project, a delegation has visited Armenia. The delegation includes 24 members, among them journalists, men of culture, sportsmen, representatives of education and science of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The Russian President's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy, Olympic champion Irina Rodnina, actor Dmitry Kharatyan, variety performer Yevgeny Petrosyan and journalist Nikolay Svanidze are among the delegation members.
Today some members of the delegation, together with Armenian Foreign Minister Hasmik Poghosyan, left for Gyumri to meet with persons
responsible for implementation of the project.
