Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that European Parliament's resolution on the Armenian Genocide will mean nothing to Turkey.
"Even if European Parliament adopts a resolution on the so-called Armenian "Genocide" that document will mean nothing to Turkey for has never been anything like that in the Turkish history", he said.
He has also touched upon the oppressions that the Armenians are subjected to in Turkey. "There are currently 100.000 Armenian citizens living in Turkey, this bespeaks that there has never been any discrimination against that nation in Turkey. We could have deported them, yet we never did. Moreover, the state budget allocated money for the reconstruction of Akhtamar church", he said.
To note, on April 15 European Parliament is to discuss a resolution on the Armenian Genocide. Vice- President of European Parliament Ulrike Lunacek has said that national parliaments and EU member- countries' governments will be offered and instructed on the adoption of relevant resolutions and decisions on the recognition and condemnation of this crime against humanity.
