Businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, who is currently at a Moscow pretrial detention center, lost consciousness on Wednesday morning. Ammonia spirit was used to recover him from the fainting fit, Artsakh Today reports.
The businessman's nephew Gurgen Hayrapetyan says that his uncle feels extremely bad and cannot talk to the lawyers. "It is not human to treat a sick man this way. His case concerns economic activities but the attitude towards him is like an attitude to a murderer. The current measure of restraint should be replaced by home arrest", says Gurgen Hayrapetyan. To recall, the health condition of Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan became much worse on Tuesday morning. Hayrapetyan's brother Vladimir said that the arrested businessman had a very high blood pressure in the morning and the doctors rushed to bring it down.
To remind, Russia's Investigation Committee has charged Levon Hayrapetyan with wasting and laundering money. Particularly, Hayrapetyan is believed to have helped Ural Rakhimov, the son of the President of Bashkortostan, to withdraw shares during the sale of Bashneft in 2009. Hayrapetyan was detained at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on July 15 and arrested on July 17 till Sept 15. On Apr 28 Ural Rakhimov faced a charge of misappropriating Bashneft's shares. On July 14 Rakhimov's 71.76% controlling stake in Bashneft was seized.
A few days ago the defendant's lawyer filed a petition to change the measure of restraint, however, the Court has taken no decision yet. The decision will follow a conclusion of the independent medical commission, which has been set up to assess the businessman's health condition.
