Expectations from the meeting of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan's presidents in Saint Petersburg were justified; Deputy Speaker of the Armenian parliament Eduard Sharmazanov expressed this opinion at the press conference.
He noted that no one had expected this meeting to lead to dramatic progress in the negotiation process, however it was certainly an important one as due to it peace was ensured in the conflict zone. "As of today the primary task is not breakthrough in the negotiations but achievement of peace in the conflict zone for as long as possible. In this context trilateral summit in Saint Petersburg justified expectations", Sharmazanov stated noting that currently it is difficult to forecast for how long it will be managed to observe relative calmness in the region.
The Deputy Speaker once again stressed the necessity of Nagorno Karabakh's return to the negotiation table, as no one has the right to determine Artsakh's future without Stepanakert. "Unless Artsakh returns to the negotiation table as a full party final settlement of Karabakh conflict is impossible", Sharmazanov summarized.
