The murder of the Armenian family in Gyumri has become one more important phase in Armenia's distancing from Russia, Igor Muradyan, well-known analyst, one of the initiators and heads of the Karabakh movement, has told ArmInfo.
On Jan 12, 6 members of the Avetisyans' family were murdered in Gyumri. Though 8 days have passed since the day of the murder, the investigation has not yet reasonably explained the reasons why Valery Permyakov could commit that horrible crime. At the moment, the criminal is staying in the territory of the Russian 102nd military base and the residents of Gyumri still demand transferring Permyakov to Armenian law-enforcers. The only survivor of the Jan 12 tragedy, 6-month-old Seryozha Avetisyan, died of stab wounds on Jan 19.
"Just look what is going on. Gyumri, a traditionally pro-Russian town, has gradually turned into an anti- Russian one. The problem is that it is not clear yet whether Permyakov or others committed that crime. It is only clear that Moscow cannot afford transferring Permyakov to the Armenian law enforcers. He knows too much", said the analyst.
Muradyan thinks that another reason to keep the criminal in the territory of the 102nd military base is the Armenian-Russian agreement implying that the territory of the base is the territory of Russia, as a matter of fact.
In this light, the analyst stresses the need to either correct or denounce the given absurd and repeatedly revised agreement. Muradyan also expressed confidence that it was at least irresponsible of Yerevan to prolong the agreement on the 102nd military base till 2044 amid the constant changes in the global politics.
