Attacking Armenians in Turkey is reflection of anti-Armenian propaganda and ideology conducted in this country, which was born at the time of government of Young Turks and has been developing to the present time, the head of the Hay Dut Yerevan office, Kiro Manoyan, said at today's press-conference.
"Unfortunately, the Turkish authorities have been trying to reduce the role of the incumbent authorities in the given events. For this reason, the murder of Armenian women in Samatia district of Istanbul is investigated by the local Police, and these crimes were classified like a robbery bid, though everybody understand very well, this is not so. First of all, the authorities are responsible for that, as the given cases of murder are the result of the policy conducted by
them", - Manoyan said.
He also added that the situation in Samatia causes anxiety and Armenians living there are in danger, as their houses were marked with a cross and their visits to the Armenian church on Sundays are dangerous for their life.
Manoyan said that two days ago a letter was found in one of the stores of Samatia, which said that they will go on killing Armenians, the closer the date of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian genocide, the more the number of victims. "The given cases of murder are evidence of the national intolerance, though
official Ankara is trying to disown it, as they understand very well how this affects the image of the country and its intention to join EU", - Manoyan said.
To recall, over the last 2 months 4 Armenian women became victims of violence in Samatia district of Istanbul where many Armenians live.
