GeoProMining Company helps challenged people to take part in national festival in Areni village

 GeoProMining, a diversified international mining group (GPM or the Company), helped a group of people with limited abilities from Yerevan to take part in the wine festival in the village of Areni, GPM press-service told ArmInfo.

As part of GeoProMining's Resources for Good corporate social responsibility programme, GPM Gold provided transportation, meals and accommodation and gave an opportunity to the group to take part in the national holiday.

Areni Wine Festival has been organized for the third time. It is supported by Ministry of Economy in line with the Government's programme for the development of ecological tourism. The festival included tasting the best Armenian wines as well as folk signing and dancing performance and other entertainment. More than 10,000 people including the country's top leaders and foreign guests took part in the event, which is usually held during the traditional harvest feast. The aim of the festival is to present the rich culture and national customs of Armenia and promote social and economic development of regions.

Ruzanna Grigoryan, GPM Spokesperson told ArmInfo that GeoProMining Group as part of its corporate social responsibility programme invested nearly $1 million in social projects implemented in the sphere of education, healthcare, cultural and historical heritage, social and economic structures in the regions where GPM is represented.  In 2011 the social investments of GPM Gold and Agarak copper and molybdenum combine (ACMC) totalled over $1.5 million.
