On May 24 Rostelecom Armenia Company summed up the results of the 1st round of the 5th annual "Technology for Life -More Opportunities" contest. "Information technologies play a very significant role in various fields nowadays, thus it's not just necessary but very important for the journalists to provide clear data and comments on new technologies.
We hope that our journalists' articles will win the second round this year too, and they will be able to visit China and get familiar with international technological innovations," noted Hayk Faramazyan, General Director of GNC-ALFA CJSC during the ceremony of awarding the winners of the 1st round.
All participants of the contest were gifted Rostelecom smartphones with 3-month free subscription. The journalists who earned the most points for their works in the first round were Anna Keshishyan ("Don't throw away potato peelings", Ararat TV), Vanuhi Avagyan ("Armenia becomes a tough competitor on the international IT platform", Yerkir Media TV), and Inna Verlinskaya ("New ArmTab and Armphone to soon debut on Armenian market", Arka news agency).
Members of the Armenian jury are representatives of professional society: Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Emil Tarasyan, Director of Enterprise Incubator Foundation Bagrat Engibaryan; Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises of Armenia Karen Vardanyan; Head of Public Relations Unit of "Rostelecom" Armenia Siranush Gyurjinyan.
The contest is held to get the attention of Media and bloggers on objective and better coverage of innovative technologies and services and their applications in different spheres of society. Approximately 500 representatives of mass media from Russia and Armenia annually take part in the competition. The winners receive the opportunity to visit such large technological companies as Ericsson (Stockholm, Sweden), Huawei (Shenzhen China), ZTE (Shenzhen, China). The competition is being held for the 5th time in Russia. With Armenian journalists' participation the competition gained international status. In May 2015 Haykuhi Asatryan, who had covered the results of IT year in Armenia, was announced the winner form Armenia.
