Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The Free Democrats board has disseminated a statement which says that the party will not support any candidate for president at the forthcoming presidential election in Armenia.
As press-service of the party reported, Free Democrats party discussed the programmes and purposes of the opposition candidates for president and made a conclusion that none of these programmes is in line with the principles of the Free Democrats party.
At the same time, the party does not want to boycott political processes and has called on its supporters to take an active part in the election and to vote for one of the opposition candidates for president.
The eight presidential candidates that will run in the election are: Ruling Republican Party leader and incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, opposition Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian, opposition Freedom Party Chairman Hrant Bagratyan, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, National Accord party Chairman Aram Harutyunyan, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic former FM Arman Melikyan, "Radio Hay" Company Manager Andreas Ghukasyan, and non-party affiliate and epos specialist Vardan Sedrakyan.
