Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
The aircraft with the humanitarian aid from Armenia has landed in Syria, however, the Armenian community has not yet received the cargo, as the documents are still being handled, Zhirayr Reisyan, representative of the Armenian community of Syria, told ArmInfo.
Oct 23 the second aircraft with 45 tons of humanitarian aid left Armenia for Syria via the air space of Iran and Iraq. The first plane with 18 tons of humanitarian aid was sent on October 15; however, it had to land in Turkey for inspection.
Reisyan pointed out that on October 25 the gunmen of the Free Syrian Army intruded into the territory of Al-Zuhur district of Aleppo and its outskirts, where the Armenian community lives. "The fighting between the gunmen and the Syrian government troops is still going on. Luckily, there are no victims among the Armenian residents of the district yet", he said. Reisyan added that the situation is not quite clear and one cannot speak of any stability.
