Ruben Safrastyan: Armenia's concerns over possible resumption of military actions by Azerbaijan are not groundless

 Considering the changes in Azerbaijan's policy on the Karabakh conflict's resolution, Armenia's concerns over possible resumption of military actions by Azerbaijan are not groundless, Ruben Safrasyan, Director of the Oriental Studies Institute of the Armenian National Academy of Science, told media, on
Tuesday.

"It is not ruled out that Azerbaijan will attack Armenia in case of war in Iran. Official Baku will not miss such an opportunity," he said.

At the same time, Safrastryan said that the year 2013 must become a year of activity of the Armenian diplomacy. "We must actively cooperate with our allies, both Russia and the USA. The Armenian diplomacy must competently formulate the concerns over aggressive behavior of Azerbaijan reasoning every fact. It is necessary also to launch cooperation with our strategic partner, CSTO, because it is the guarantee of our security," the expert said.

Professor Safrastyan said that in the light of the upcoming presidential election in Azerbaijan, the propaganda of war against Armenia will increase.

"By such means Aliyev will try to attract electorate. In addition, the year 2013 will be rather active also from the viewpoint of official Baku's aggressive rhetoric," Safrastyan said.
