Batumi Authorities Approve New Rules of Placing Campaign Posters

Tbilisi. Batumi City Council (Sakrebulo) has  approved new rules of placing campaign posters, according to which it is not allowed to install and  stick such posters in certain places of the city, is said in the statement of Batumi City Council, which was disseminated on Tuesday, August 7.

                "It is not allowed to political subjects to stick campaign posters on the territory of "old Batumi", the city's old and new boulevard", the statement reads.

It is noted that stands will be installed on these territories and any political party will be able to place its poster free of charge on them.

According to the statements, these restrictions do not concern other districts of the city, though, it is also not allowed to stick posters on cultural objects, administrative buildings, traffic signs.

                The elections to the Supreme Council of Adjarian Autonomous Republic will be held on October 1, simultaneously  with the parliamentary elections in Georgia. A term of fling applications for participation in the elections to the Supreme Council has expired. 17 parties have filed applications, four of them  are registered, the commission was to consider applications of 13 parties till August 7.

The party Free Georgia, the Labor Party, Conservative Party and European Democrats have been registered for participation  in the elections in Adjara.
