Armenian delegation prevents the holding of Inter-Parliamentary Union's next session in Baku

During the 127th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Armenian delegation managed to prevent the holding of the next session in Baku, Head of the Armenian delegation Karen Chshmarityan said at today's press conference.  

To recall, the 127th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union took place in Quebec, Canada, Oct 21-26 with participation of 162 countries' representatives. Armenia was represented by Karen Chshmarityan, MP from the Republican Party of Armenia, and Heghine
Bisharyan, Head of the Orinats Yerkir Party Faction.   

Chshmarityan said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev suggested holding the next session in Baku in an official letter to the
Chairman of the Union. The letter was read out by the head of the Azerbaijani delegation Ilham Aliyev (the Azeri president's namesake).

The Armenian delegation conditioned its protest against the holding of the session in Baku by the extradition and pardoning of Azeri
officer Ramil Safarov, who killed sleeping Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan. A decision was taken to hold the next session in Mongolia.  

Heghine Bisharyan said that after the session the Hungarian MPs approached the Armenian delegation members and apologized for
Safarov's extradition.
