Environmentalists do not believe that only one man is behind poaching in Khosrov

  • Thursday, October 4, 17:39

The green activists and environmentalists are skeptic about the information that only one man is behind the poaching in Khosrov reserve.

At today's press conference Silva Adamyan, Head of the Bird Lovers' Center NGO, said that the bezoar goat hunting could not be done by one man only. She expressed the environmentalists' intention to apply to the Armenian Nature Protection Ministry to get a permit to investigate the territory of Khosrov.

To recall, the information about the poaching cases in Khosrov appeared on September 24, when the green activists posted in the internet a video recorded during their visit to the reserve. The video showing the parts of carcasses of a bear and a bezoar goat registered in the Red Book caused a wave of discussions in the mass media and social networks.

Several days later, the press service of the Police reported that the poacher was Norik Sargsyan (born in 1983), resident of Garni village. Sargsyan confessed that he had been engaged in poaching for a year. The police found a sporting gun, a carabine, hunting implements and bear fat at Sargsyan's. In the meantime, the green activists said that Sargsyan is not privy to the poaching, and the investigation exerted pressure on him. They think that a group of persons is behind that crime.
