Armenia will build a farm to breed ishkhan (Sevan trout).
A relevant program was approved by the Armenian Government on Thursday.
The Agriculture Ministry will be given 3bln AMD for the project. 600mln AMD more will be provided for a fish processing factory.
On Dec 19 2013 the Armenian Government approved financing for a project to breed ishkhan. The project is open for private investing. Until 2023 it will need 66bln AMD ($162mln). The Government will provide 24.9bln AMD till 2018.
As much as 75% of the fish to be produced under the project will be exported in fresh, frozen, smoked and preserved forms. The goal of the project is to have no less than 50,000 tons of ishkhan in Lake Sevan by 2023.
