Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Armenia is a strategic partner for the European Union, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia H.E. Traian Hristea said at Eleventh Advisory Board Meeting in Yerevan on Friday.
The work on the Association Agreement is progressing and in 2013 it may get a positive result if all the steps are made in the right
direction. This will bring Armenia closer to European integration, Hristea said.
He said that Armenia has an opportunity to received big financial assistance from the EU if it boosts democratic reforms under EU's
"more for more" approach. Secretary of the National Security Council of Armenia Arthur Baghdasaryan said, in turn, that development rates of the Armenia-EU relations have been quite active over the last months.
"Over the recent period of work we managed to do much in the field of the Visa Facilitation, free trade zone and other projects Armenia is involved in," Baghdasaryan said. Armenia-EU cooperation has overcome many obstacles, but there is still much do be done in future, he said.
