The budget of the vast majority of the Armenian citizens allocated for summer vacations in average does not exceed USD 500 per person. These outcomes were gained by the specialists from M-Info marketing agency as a result of survey of the target audience among the citizens of Armenia.
According to the survey named "Preferences of Armenians in the tourism sector", despite the growing number of tourists, most citizens cannot afford the luxury of a vacation at homeland. The main reasons for this, according to a poll of marketers are high prices for a variety of recreation types in Armenia. The rest in Georgia costs Armenian citizens much cheaper than at local resorts of Tsakhkadzor, Dilijan and Sevan. According to Director of M-Info Mariam Mkrtchyan, impossibly high prices for holidays in the country are due to the influx of wealthy foreign representatives of the Armenian Diaspora that are willing to spend substantial amounts for organizing their holidays in the historical motherland. Marketers also note that even when going abroad, the majority of people prefer to organize their holidays by themselves, without applying to the services of travel agencies.
According to the survey, the reason for this is the lack of confidence in the work of travel agencies, most of which serves as the local agents of large, mostly Russian tour operators, as well as high prices for the proposed tourist packages..
