Vice Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Spokesperson of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov refuses to comment on the situation in Ukraine.
Sharmazanov believes it incorrect making any comments or assessments of such situation in a friendly country. "One thing is for sure: revolution impedes evolution in any country," he said.
"Some politicians draw parallels between the ongoing developments in Ukraine and the situation we had in Armenia on 1 March 2008, which is inexpedient. I think it immoral speculating on the given issue especially ahead of the anniversary of those tragic events," he said.
The ANC started organizing rallies in Yerevan on Feb 20 2008 protesting against the presidential election of 2008. Post-election unrest and clashes with police on March 1 2008 resulted in 10 deaths and over 200 wounded. Those responsible for the tragedy have not been revealed yet. Dozens of people were arrested after March 1 charged with organization of mass disorders.
