Tbilisi. On Monday, August 4, President of Georgia, Giorgi
Margvelashvili, opened the annual meeting of heads of the country's diplomatic
missions abroad and wished success to Georgian ambassadors.
"This is the fist Ambassadorial, in
which I participate. I express my respect and wish successful work",
Margvelashvili addressed heads of the Georgian diplomatic missions.
According to him, last year was important
as the EU-Georgia Associated Agreement was initialed. The document was signed
on June 27. It is the first step for
membership in the EU. "It is important to pass this signal to all
countries", the President noted.
The Ambassadorial is traditionally held in
Georgia in autumn, but taking into consideration that NATO Summit has been set
for September, the Foreign Ministry of Georgia made a decision to hold the
meeting earlier. According to the Georgian Foreign Minister, Maia Panjikidze,
it is desirable that head of Georgian diplomatic mission were in their offices
in September.
The Ambassadorial is held in Courtyard
Marriott Hotel till August 7.
The EU-Georgia Associated Agreement was
initialed in the framework of the Eastern partnership Summit, in Vilnius, on
November 29, 2013. The document was signed
finally on June 27 of the current year, in Brussels. Georgia and some EU states
have already ratified the Agreement.
