Since the launch of the season of the Yerevan- Batumi-Yerevan railway service on June 15, the "Armenia" train of the South Caucasus Railway (SCR) CJSC has carried 44,660 passengers (as many as during the previous season).
The press service of SCR has told ArmInfo that over specified period over 45.9 thsd tickets were sold (up 3.2% than in 2013). The data published by the Board of Passenger Operations of SCR CJSC demonstrate that in September passenger flow and ticket sales kept growing. For instance, in September 2014 the passenger operations of SCR CJSC totaled over 5.6 thsd people (4.4% more than in September 2013) and over 4.3 thsd tickets were sold (up 4.7%). The online sale of the tickets is also becoming popular - a total of 478 tickets were sold since the launch of the season (2.5 times as many as in 2013).
To recall, the Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan railway service will operate till 1 October. In accordance with the SCR seasonal discounts, in September 2014 the railway tickets of sleeping cars and compartments dropped in price by 2.2 thsd AMD and 2.7 thsd AMD, respectively.
SCR CJSC is a 100% subsidiary of Russian Railway OJSC and the concessional manager of the Armenian Railway under the Agreement signed on 13 Feb 2008. the Agreement was signed for 30 years and may be prolonged for 10 more years.
