NATO is concerned about the existing tension between NATO and Azerbaijan on the Line of Contact for the past few days, NATO Liaison officer to the Caucasus Mr. William Lahue told journalists, APA reports.
William Lahue said NATO supports a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He noted that the existence of tension in the conflict is dangerous for not only Azerbaijan and Armenia, but stability in the entire region, and that both sides need to make every effort to relieve the tension.
Death toll rises on both the Armenian and Azerbaijani party as clashes grow on the Line of Contact. Azerbaijan has made several sabotage attacks lately. Both the sides suffered casualties. Azerbaijan lost 27 soldiers. There were 6 deaths on the Armenian side. The U.S. Department of State, Russian Foreign Ministry, French Foreign Ministry, OSCE CiO as well as OSCE Minsk Group Co- Chairs, EU and many countries have expressed deep concern over escalating tensions and urged the parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and take steps to defuse tension.
