Baku's recent inadequate actions has sparked panic in Azerbaijan and made people flea their villages, Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan said in the Government, Thursday.
Paying tribute to the memory of the Armenian servicemen that fell victim to Aliyev's aggressive policy, the Armenian minister at the request of Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan dwelled upon the situation on the border. He said that enemy has already breached the ceasefire 18,000 times this year versus 13,000 times in 2013.
In 2014 the enemy has already made 26 raids, including 15 in the period from July 25 up to present.
"The tension is high so far. The enemy started unprecedented by the scale military actions, firing at the Armenian positions, bombarding our villages, re-deploying troops in the rear, amid active information and propaganda activity. All the attempts of sabotage attacks were repelled. Unfortunately, we did not avoid human losses. Azerbaijan has intensified the police patrol and made corrections in the conscription plans. These actions are unprecedented since 1994. Analysis of those actions shows that not only Azerbaijan breaches the ceasefire, but also gets prepared for large-scale military actions. All this is a result of military rhetoric that aims to influence the negotiation process and avoid the inferiority feeling of a defeated party," Ohanyan said.
The minister assured the Government that the combat mode is strengthened especially at nighttime and the Armed Forces of Armenia and the NKR Defense Army will show strong retaliation to any ceasefire breach. "Turks is always Turk, and we will use the same rules as they do against us," Ohanyan said. -m-
