Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Norway supports the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group to resolve the Karabakh conflict, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said on Monday, at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov, Trend reports. According to Espen Barth Eide, Oslo urges Armenia to abstain from
flights to Nagorno-Karabakh.
Trend quotes Espen Barth Eide as saying: "Armenia must not resort to provocative action. Azerbaijan has already voiced its position to Yerevan."
For his part, Mammadyarov said that the opening of the airport in Karabakh should be part of a peace agreement on Karabakh. When commenting on the reports about settlement of Syrian Armenians in the security zone of Nagorno-Karabakh, Mammadyarov pointed out that this issue is on the agenda of the talks with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
He said that the matter concerns a small number of Syrian Armenians, but in any case it is illegal and Azerbaijan informed the OSCE Minsk Group of its position.
He added that on January 28 the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will meet with Armenian and Azerbaijani foreign ministers, however, the format of these negotiations has not yet been defined.
