The agreement reached between Iran and the "six" can be called an event of historic importance not only for our region but for the world, and although so far there are opponents of "peace" and in the US Senate, led by Senator McCain and the Iranian Majlis, the parties , yet will come to a common denominator. Such an opinion in an interview with ArmInfo was expressed by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador Arman Navasardyan.
According to the ambassador, at the moment the United States are auditing of its regional policy, against the background of deteriorating relations with Turkey, the United States go to the establishment of relations with a country that until recently was considered to be the center of the "axis of evil." According to the expert, paradoxically, the lifting of Western sanctions against Iran opens for Armenia new opportunities and these opportunities should not be missed. "Many reputable states are confident that Armenia is the only country in the region to act as a link to Russia, Iran and the United States. Armenia is a country confessing Christian, European values, which bears both pieces of Asian culture. And most importantly, Armenia has a huge Diaspora ", - said Navasardyan. "Against the background of the coming geopolitical changes in the Middle East in general and Iran in particular, the regional policy of Armenia should be more proactive and aimed at improving the regional status of the country. A new player comes to the arena of regional policy - Iran and we can be a part of this great game "- advises Navasardyan. Now that Iran is gradually beginning to emerge from international isolation after the decision on the nuclear dossier, the situation in the region is changing dramatically - the balance of power changed in favor of Iran, said the expert. "Armenia should try to interest Iran to enter from our country to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union and Russia, which should finally understand that to build relationships in the region is necessary not only in view of the laying 'own pipes", but on the basis of mutually beneficial partnership "- says Navasardyan.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the same time finds it difficult to make predictions about the regional developments. "The international situation is so complicated that even experts find it difficult to seriously predict anything. And even though the threat of a major war today is not present, the tension will continue for 20-30 years," - he concluded. It should be noted that Iran and the "six" (the US, France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China) have reached an agreement on the Iranian nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against Tehran. The US President Barack Obama, speaking soon after the announcement of the agreement, said that Iran has pledged to dismantle two thirds of centrifuges to enrich uranium and to keep them under international supervision. Also, he said, Iran would have to get rid of 98% of its stockpile of enriched uranium and agree to IAEA inspection, "when and where necessary." Lifting of the ban on arms supply must take place within five years. However, deliveries will be possible with the consent of the UN Security Council. The agreement must be ratified by all parties and approved by the UN Security Council.
