According to the preliminary data, the bill on the Armenian budget for 2013 will have 11.1 bln AMD (27 mln USD) for financing of science, which is by 1 bln AMD more than the budget financing of 2012. The ratio of the annual state financing against the aggregate budget expenditures for 2013 will remain at the
same level as in 2012 (about 1% of budget expenditures), Samvel Haroutyunyan, Chairman of the State Committee on Science of the Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, said at today's press conference.
He said that now the ratio of the annual state financing of science against the GDP is small (0.25%).
Haroutyunyan added that more and more scientific organizations cover most part of their costs due to international cooperation programs.
He said that 1-1.1 thsd Armenian scientists receive a salary of up to 200,000 AMD (500 USD) from state sources only (basic, thematic and international programs).
Haroutyunyan pointed out that the sphere of science is experiencing a change of generations. The heads of 30% of Government-funded thematic programs are young specialists under 30.
